What makes Deep Dive SF special?

Imagine a “summer camp” just for hypnokink nerds, focused on learning, skillbuilding, and active participation. You’ll come away from the weekend having grown as a hypnotist and/or subject, through high-quality workshops and group hypnosis activities. The small size (40 attendees) and focus on participation and practice means it will be easy to make connections with like-minded hypnokinksters. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your passion by running a workshop or activity. We are especially looking for never-before-seen workshops and extra-geeky topics. HKBA founders and friends will be available to support your design process.

What kind of workshops and activities?

We’re hoping that folks bring their most esoteric, technical, niche, weird, practical, or just plain fun ideas to Deep Dive SF. Imagine what you could do with an intimate group of highly-committed hypnokinksters! Requirements are that workshops be about the craft of doing in-person hypnosis and that every workshop contains some active time for attendees (usually doing hypnosis, but could be a discussion, problem-solving exercise, or practice of an adjacent skill.) We believe educational workshops and group hypnosis activities (trances, games, etc) are equally valuable for creating a community of confident hypnokinksters.

We promise that every workshop will feel worth your time. Workshop proposals will be carefully considered by HKBA founders and other highly-experienced members of the Bay Area hypnokink community. We choose programming based on quality and uniqueness, and work with presenters to make sure their workshops are excellent. But don’t let that intimidate you! New presenters are especially encouraged to submit their proposals.

What's on the schedule?

From 11:30am-6:30pm Saturday and Sunday, there will be prepared workshops led by community presenters. Each day there will be a lunch break and some short breaks between workshop sessions. Mukunda Studio has space for up to two workshops per time slot; workshops on the most popular topics may not be scheduled against anything. There will be no designated Uncon time but attendees will be welcome to hang out in the lounge room when it's not in use for a workshop. Saturday evening there will be a play party (no structured activities) and Sunday evening we will have a Hypno Salon for folks to show off their skills and creativity. We are currently soliciting workshop proposals and will post the schedule on our website when it is announced.

What’s the procedure for registration?

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Folks who have attended an HKBA event in the past year are likely to get the ticket link soon after filling out the registration form. If you’re new to HKBA, we may reach out for vetting. Vetting will consist of a short conversation (ideally over Discord or Zoom) to get an idea of your place in the community. We reserve the right to deny entry to anyone we believe isn’t a good fit for our event. We want to make sure all our attendees feel safe and comfortable with everyone else there.

How much are tickets? Why are there different ticket prices?

Regular price is $220. Supporter and Sponsor tickets ($250 & $300) fund our financial aid program. You can also make a donation in any amount you wish. All tickets get you access to all the events at Deep Dive SF, regardless of how much you paid.

How does financial aid work?

As for all HKBA events, financial aid will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For Deep Dive SF, priority will be given to hypnokinksters who are already active participants in their local communities. We will make a list of those who request and discounts will be offered on a rolling basis as funds become available. The total amount of financial aid available depends on the amount of money raised by donations and the sale of Supporter and Sponsor tickets throughout the year. Email events @ hypnokinkbayarea to get on the financial aid list.

Where do I stay? Where do I eat?

Anywhere you want! There are many hotels and restaurants at a wide range of price points within walking distance of the venue. Connect with other attendees on our Discord server to make plans together.

Will there be a retreat any time soon?

Deep Dive SF is replacing The Whirlpool Retreat for now. We were unable to find a venue that suited our needs for a retreat, so we decided to switch it up for 2026. The vision of an intimate weekend of collaboration and creativity lives on in Deep Dive SF, but a non-residential event was both easier for us to find a venue for and is more affordable for members of our local community. If you can connect us with a venue within driving distance of the Bay Area that can accommodate a 30-person hypnokink retreat, please reach out. We hope to someday bring The Whirlpool back.

As always, you are welcome to get in touch with any questions you may have. And don't forget to register here.
